"There sits upon a misty shore,
A windswept woman, who never before,
Had seen the world beyond our own,
Until she gazed through a hole in a stone..."
~
A hand-collected beach stone with a naturally occurring hole - also known as a Hag Stone or Witches Stone, adorned with a crescent moon lovingly handcrafted from sterling silver. This particular stone features small lines within the hole made from a sea fossil that has been pushed out by the strength of the waves.
Strung from sturdy waxed cotton cord measuring 28" inches (can be cut to desired length).
Hag stones were historically used as good luck talismans, often kept by sailors or homemakers as a means to ward off negative energy or "the evil eye". It was also often said that if you peered through the hole of a Hag Stone, the world of the Faeries would be revealed to you. They have come to symbolise many things, from the sacred feminine and the yoni to the third eye, and are still used as protection talismans today. They invoke a sense of wonder and encourage us to see life from a different perspective.
